Ft. Thompson Man Sentenced for Sex Abuse

United States Attorney Brendan V. Johnson announced that a Ft. Thompson man charged with Sexual Abuse of a Minor was sentenced on August 4, 2011, by U.S. District Judge Roberto A. Lange. Kelly W. McGhee, Jr., age 21, was sentenced to 33 months of imprisonment, five years of supervised release, and a $100 victim assessment. This sentence was ordered to be served consecutively to McGhee's sentence of 27 months for his conviction for bank burglary.

McGhee was indicted by a federal grand jury on January 11, 2011. In September 2009, in Buffalo County, McGhee engaged in a sexual act with a child under the age of 16. He pled guilty on May 2, 2011.

This case was investigated by the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Crow Creek Agency. Assistant U.S. Attorney Eric Kelderman prosecuted the case.

McGhee was immediately turned over to the custody of the U.S. Marshal.
